Forums on the Community Police Trust Initiative

We need your help to hold the Phoenix Police Department accountable to the community they serve. This is especially crucial in an era in which Trump’s “law & order” rhetoric and efforts to further militarize local police forces threaten our safety. Please consider attending one of the CPTI listening sessions to offer input and feedback.

In 2015 the Phoenix City Manager formed the Community & Police Trust Initiative (CPTI) to review police-community relations which affect all residents. The initiative was composed of 17 community members hand selected by the City Manager who determined nine recommendations to enhance the Phoenix Police Department’s relationship with those they serve. This was done with very little transparency and without input from the community at-large. Even these “in-house” recommendations have amounted to little more than lip service, as almost none of them have been implemented and in the last 6 months alone we’ve seen the Phoenix PD kill Francisco Valdez, tear-gas non-violent protesters, and more.

Now is the opportunity to offer feedback on the proposed recommendations as well as input on others that should be considered. Join us in making it clear that we will not tolerate a police force which is unaccountable to its community!

These 12 meetings will be held on the following dates/times/locations:
